Raspberry Peanut Butter Surprize Smoothie

The days are counting down until my little baby girl arrives. Her furniture is assembled, her clothes are washed and her stuffed animals are patiently waiting to be squeezed and loved. I am waiting (not so patiently) to meet her, hold her and just stare at her little face.

At this point in pregnany it feels as if time starts to slow down. Every day feels longer than the last and the fact that any moment labor could begin is exciting and terrifying all at the same time. It’s also much harder to do yoga simply because my belly is in the way and movement in general is a bit more challenging. Walking however, has been a new healer of mine. I highly recommend it to women in their third trimester if your back allows it.

Walking is incredibly relaxing. It’s a great time to pop on your favorite playlist, podcast or audio book and just go. Take new routes overtime to keep yourself inspired and stimulated and take your time, there’s no rush to get anywhere.

With all my walking, I’ve also picked up a habit of smoothie bowls after each walk to replenish on nutrients and to cool off my body. I came up with this Raspberry Peanut Butter Surprise yesterday and I know it will become a regular around my house for now on. It’s creamy, sweet and a bit salty and a great smoothie to pair with your favorite granola.

I hope you enjoy it as much as I have. 🙂

Green Dream + Superfoods

Green Dream

This smoothie comes from my friend and the founder of Strala Yoga, Tara Stiles. It’s from her new book Make Your Own Rules Diet which features easy recipes to stay healthy and radiate through life. The main thing I love about this smoothie (besides it’s amazing taste!) is how simple it is to prepare. Only 4 ingredients! I added some extra superfoods in there today but trust me, the original is perfect the way it is!

Green Dream + Superfoods

  • 1 cup almond milk
  • 1 banana
  • 1 apple
  • handful of spinach
  • 1 tablespoon hemp seeds (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon chia seeds (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon ground flax seeds (optional)
  • blueberries to top (optional)

Blend all ingredients together until smooth. Top with blueberries and enjoy!

Healthy Glow Smoothie

Sweet Potato Glow

This smoothie not only tastes amazing but it also makes you feel and look amazing from the inside out.

The main ingredient in this smoothie is sweet potatoes which are very high in skin damaging protector Vitamin A, and in glowing skin produces Vitamins C & E.  Sweet potatoes are also great for digestion and maintaining energy. (Woohoo!)

Check it out and let me know what you think in the comment section below. 🙂

Healthy Glow Smoothie

  • 1 cup almond milk
  • 1/2 cup frozen banana
  • 1/2 sweet potato, baked or canned (baked is better) 🙂
  • 1 apple, I used Gala
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/8 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon of chia seeds

Blend all the ingredients together until smooth and enjoy!

Sweet Potato Apple Ginger Soup

Sweet potato apple soup

I created this soup the other day when my body needed something soothing and warming. It’s a sweet and spicy kind of soup that is not to filling but leaves you feeling very satisfied. Feel free to experiment with adding extra spice with more cayenne or more sweetness by adding extra apple. 🙂

Sweet Potato Apple Ginger Soup

  • 1 small sweet onion, diced
  • 1 garlic clove, diced
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt & pepper
  • 2 large sweet potatoes, chopped
  • 1 apple, chopped (I used gala)
  • 4 cups vegetable broth (low sodium)
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, minced

In a large pot sauté onions, garlic, cayenne, salt and pepper over medium-low heat or until onions begin to sweat and break down. Then add sweet potatoes and apple tossed to coat in onion mixture. Next add broth, and ginger, turn heat to high and bring mixture to a boil. Let boil for 2 minutes and then turn down the heat and let soup simmer for 10 minutes or until sweet potatoes are completely cooked through.

Lastly add the soup to a Vitamix blender and blend until smooth. Be careful as some blenders will erupt if you add hot liquids so make sure your blender can blend hot liquids.

Raspberry Almond Butter Smoothie Bowl

Raspberry Almond Butter Smoothie

I’m very much enjoying my Breakfast Criminals heart bowl. 🙂

It’s pretty cool to think that every time I use it I am “literally” filling up a heart. It keeps me mindful, light hearted and weirdly happy. If anyone is interested is having their own Heart Bowl you can buy your’s here on Amazon.

Now onto this smoothie! This is a great combination of sweet, salty and creamy. The raspberries add a sweet tartness where the almond butter adds a salty nutty flavor which all comes together beautifully. Try this for breakfast or a late night snack.

Raspberry Almond Butter Smoothie Bowl

  • 1 frozen banana
  • 1/2 cup frozen raspberries
  • 1 gala apple
  • 1 tablespoon almond butter, I used Justin’s Maple Almond Butter

  • Sweet & Salty Acai Smoothie Bowl

    Acai Apple Bowl

Smoothie bowls have become my new favorite breakfast.

They’re a great substitution for sugary cereal because they have the crunch and sweetness of cereal without all the artificial ingredients and flavoring. In a smoothie bowl you get real food that’s filled with lots of minerals and vitamins without all the added sugar.

Your breakfast doesn’t have to be complicated or unhealhy. You can know what you’re putting into your body and it can taste amazing, trust me. 🙂

    Make a change today.

Sweet & Salty Acai Smoothie Bowl

Blend all the ingredients EXCEPT granola together until smooth. Top with granola, extra apple and a drizzle of peanut butter.

Eat with a spoon and enjoy!
